SCHOOL HISTORY
How LACA’s school history came to be shall remain a beautiful testimony to the grace of God. One of the leading Christian schools in the municipal district, LACA describes its humble beginnings as a series of divine orchestration –
The idea of putting up a school was triggered one summer morning, when Corazon Santos and her husband Benjamin were out jogging. They spotted under-privileged children playing in the streets, thinking that these children should be in school instead. Realizing that poverty kept these children out of school, she resolved to help.
In 1996, with the support of the Tabernacle of the Living God Christian Fellowship (TLGCF), Nanay Cora, (as she is fondly called), started the Vacation Bible School (VBS). The founder envisioned the curriculum to be Bible-based. The VBS continued the following year, teaching basic Christian values to disadvantaged children, even reaching out to other barangays, i.e., Tangos and Sulucan (Angat).
A co-brethren in Christ, Mr. Wyden King (Chairman of the Board of Armadillo Holdings, Inc.), saw the birth of VBS and what it is accomplishing. Nanay Cora’s vision, mission and infectious passion lodged in his heart as she shared her dreams with him. And as God’s designs can be astonishing, he decided to take part in this mission. Thus, construction broke ground in November 17, 1996, and A SCHOOL LIKE NO OTHER was born.
Little Angels Christian Academy (its original name) initially offered Pre-school education with 21 enrollees, 4 teachers, and 7 newly-built classrooms. The following school year saw the birth of the Special Education (SPED) department, with 2 students transferred from preschool, classified with Cerebral Palsy and Down Syndrome impairments. Other levels of education were added in the succeeding years, with the 1st Elementary Commencement Exercise held in March 2001. It was also in this year that the school was renamed to “Living Angels Christian Academy”.
The year 2005 was a momentous one: 1st High School Commencement Exercise in March; SPED and High School Department of Education (DepEd) Recognition attained; and the emergence of a New Administration, which geared LACA to ascend in terms of academic quality and values education, facilities, teachers, organization, and operations.
LACA’s history will not be complete without the persona of Mr. Angelo King, a benefactor whose unwavering support enabled the school to open its doors to more and more students coming from marginalized families in Baliuag and other barangays. The rise of the 5-storey Belen R. King High School Building (named after his wife) in 2011, followed by the completion of the 2-storey SPED’s Angelo King Building in 2012, attested to his generosity and staunch belief in the school’s aspiration to be God’s educational pillar in this part of the world. The school's 30x15 m. basketball court was finally covered in December 2013. And now, a 4-storey building is under construction to be able to accommodate more students, and also to house the Senior High School enrollees starting SY 2016.
Now on its 18th year, LACA’s educational offerings include Pre-School, Grade School Primary, and Intermediate, High School, and Special Education (SPED). Indeed, the school has gone quite a long way, and through innovative ways that it educates young minds and nurtures relationships, it is indeed a ‘A School Like No Other’.
The fullness of God’s promises for LACA is yet to come, as we claim Habakkuk 2:3 which states,
“For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak,
and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry.”
